First time ever and last time ever...that's almost a certainty.

why just basketball and football?
I am 100 times more open minded than most on here about the topics we talk about.-Raider13
we've finished in the top 3 each year since we joined the ACC...so i'm not really sure how you came to that conclusion
...unless you're talking about Miami's last place finish

ok...we could add that we went to the NCAA Final 4 in soccer, our Women's track team won the ACC in Indoor and Outdoor...one of our golfers won the British Amateur...softball was ACC champs
does that make it enough sports for you?

Wouldn't count anyway, not an NCAA sport.

Wake Forest would get a bump since they were the national champs. Maryland was also in the Sweet 16, so they'd get help too. UVA & Duke also made the tourney, so they weren't bad either. They'd get bumps for making it in I'd say.

FSU's men won the 2007 outdoor National Title. They get a bump there for sure.

NCSU made the Women's College World Series as the 15th seed...VT? 16th seed. They won the ACC but NCSU was a better squad according to how they were seeded. Also, VT's win in that tourney was over Canisius (???) and NCSU's was against Penn State. VT lost two straight to tOSU and Cal State Fullerton, while NCSU's losses were to S. Carolina...so NCSU did well too.
You're forgetting other schools could toss in frisbee golf and chinese checkers championships and make themselves look good too, no matter what VT's teams did.

I'm talking about both--the only reason why VT's at the top of that list is 1 good year in basketball where they still didn't win a title, and an ACC title in football when it was a down year for the entire conference. It's all about looking at a group of stats that is convenient for certain schools. This group of stats simply tends to favor VT.
Miami will be back, and if you add baseball in there, VT drops down for sure given UNC's season last year, and Miami is at least 8th out of the 12 I would guess after that's added in. Also, Miami's basketball team isn't so bad this season (injury riddled last year), and the football team will be back.

Is there anyone who really give's a rat's a$$ about this...seems like cherry picking when you combine only 2 sports out of 50 to comprise any indication of quality for an athletic program...but b-ball has nothing at all to do with football, which VT basically sucks at anyways unless they are playing no one....ROCK, CHALK, JAYHAWK..lol..."VT..where the men are men and the sheep are scared...but they will prevail"..lol..what a joke.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
